Brianna Lois Parker
Brianna Lois Parker (b. 1998) is a British-Caribbean oil painter based in London. Working across still life and portraiture, Parker finds significance in the everyday, using familiar objects, food, gestures and encounters to explore identity, intimacy and belonging. Her paintings draw from observation, conversation and memory, often bringing the ordinary into unexpected dialogue with ideas of taste, aspiration and social identity. With a direct and quietly playful approach, Parker’s work pays close attention to gesture, touch and the details through which personal and cultural histories reveal themselves.
Parker was awarded the Margate Art Prize by Tracey Emin and commissioned by Netflix for Portrait of a Top Boy at Somerset House, also featured by the National Portrait Gallery website. She appeared on Portrait Artist of the Year, and was shortlisted for the Jackson’s Art Prize, placing in the top 0.2% of 12,964 submissions and receiving the Judge’s Choice Award.
